Modi College celebrated ‘World Environment Day’ on Online Platform
Today, NSS Units, NCC Wings and Bharat Scouts and Guides Units of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala released flyers on the occasion of World Environment Day. While releasing the flyers, College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar said that our college has been contributing in the protection of environment throughout the year by motivating NSS Volunteers, NCC Cadets, Bharat Scouts and Guides Rangers and Rovers to plant saplings in college campus, surrounding areas and at different locations of the city. Our college is having ‘Rain Harvesting Systems’ installed for water conservation, ‘Botanical Gardens’ where more than 300 trees help to save the environment; whole campus and parking are also dotted with variety of trees to control the pollution in the area. In the college, 5 decomposing pits have been constructed under Solid Waste Management Programme. Garbage collected from college campus is put in these pits and supplemented with enzymes to hasten the manure formation within 40 days. It is used in botanical garden and other plants growing in college campus. Today, on this World Environment day also, he motivated the students and staff to carry on such environment friendly activities so as to save the world environment, even in this one of the toughest times of human mankind during lockdown period of Corona Virus outbreak.
Department of Botany and Zoology, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala also celebrated online World Environment Day with UN theme “Time for Nature”. A poster making competition and quiz was organized for the students of B.Sc. Medical. The competition aimed to engage students in the productive work.
In the online poster making competition 26 students participated. All the students beautifully tried to reveal connection between Novel Corona Pandemic and the theme Time for Nature through their drawings. All the posters are highly appreciated. The posters of Disha Jindal of B.Sc.III, Mandeep Kaur, Bhuvnesh Kaushal, Shivani Goyal, Bhavisha, Bawleen Kaur of B.Sc.II and Dilpreet Kaur of B.Sc.I have been selected as meritorious which were according to the given theme. In the quiz competition, 34 students actively participated. Disha Jindal and Divanshi of B.Sc. III bagged first and second positions respectively. Kritika of B.Sc. II got third position. College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar congratulated all the students for their active participation and appreciated the effort of all the faculty members.

ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ ‘ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦਿਵਸ’ ਔਨਲਾਇਨ ਮਨਾਇਆ
ਅੱਜ, ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੀ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਯੂਨਿਟਸ, ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ. ਵਿੰਗਸ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਕਾਉਟਸ ਅਤੇ ਗਾਈਡਸ ਯੂਨਿਟਸ ਨੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦਿਵਸ ਦੇ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਪੋਸਟਰ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੇ। ਪੋਸਟਰ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਾਡਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਸਾਲ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਵਲੰਟੀਅਰਾਂ, ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ. ਕੈਡਿਟਸ, ਭਾਰਤ ਸਕਾਉਟਸ ਅਤੇ ਗਾਈਡਜ਼ ਰੇਂਜਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਵਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਲਜ ਕੈਂਪਸ, ਆਸ-ਪਾਸ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਥਾਵਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਬੂਟੇ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਡੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਲਈ ‘ਰੇਨ ਹਾਰਵੈਸਟਿੰਗ ਸਿਸਟਮ’ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ‘ਬੋਟੈਨੀਕਲ ਗਾਰਡਨਜ਼’ ਜਿੱਥੇ 300 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਵਿਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ; ਪੂਰੇ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਰਕਿੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਖੇਤਰ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਦੂਸ਼ਣ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਟਰੋਲ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਲਗਾਏ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਚ ‘ਸਾਲਿਡ ਵੇਸਟ ਮੈਨੇਜਮੈਂਟ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ’ ਤਹਿਤ 5 ਡੀਕੰਪੋਜ਼ਿੰਗ ਪਿਟਸ ਬਣਾਏ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਕਾਲਜ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਕੂੜਾ-ਕਰਕਟ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਟੋਇਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਖਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦਲਣ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੰਜ਼ਾਇਮਸ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਕਿ 40 ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੂੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਬਦੀਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਖਾਦ ਬੋਟੈਨੀਕਲ ਗਾਰਡਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗੇ ਪੌਦਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਰਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਅੱਜ, ਇਸ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦਿਵਸ ‘ਤੇ ਵੀ ਓਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਟਾਫ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਅਨੁਕੂਲ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਕੋਰੋਨਾ ਵਾਇਰਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਕੋਪ ਦੀ ਔਖੀ ਘੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।
ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਬੋਟਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਜੂਲੋਜੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ “ਕੁਦਰਤ ਲਈ ਸਮਾਂ” ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦਿਵਸ ਔਨਲਾਇਨ ਪਲੈਟਫ਼ਾਰਮ ਤੇ ਮਨਾਇਆ। ਬੀ.ਐਸ.ਸੀ. (ਮੈਡੀਕਲ) ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਪੋਸਟਰ ਮੇਕਿੰਗ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਇਜ਼ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ।
‘ਔਨਲਾਇਨ ਪੋਸਟਰ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ’ ਵਿੱਚ 26 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ। ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਚਿੱਤਰਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਾਵਲ ਕੋਰੋਨਾ ਮਹਾਂਮਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ‘ਥੀਮ ਟਾਈਮ ਫਾਰ ਨੇਚਰ’ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਸਬੰਧ ਨੂੰ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਾਹਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ੰਸਾ ਹੋਈ। ਬੀ.ਐਸ.ਸੀ. ਭਾਗ ਤੀਜਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਜਿੰਦਲ, ਮਨਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ, ਭੁਵਨੇਸ਼ ਕੌਸ਼ਲ, ਸ਼ਿਵਾਨੀ ਗੋਇਲ, ਭਵਿਸ਼ਾ, ਬੀ.ਐਸ.ਸੀ. ਭਾਗ ਦੂਜਾ ਦੀ ਬਾਵਲੀਨ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਬੀ.ਐਸ.ਸੀ. ਭਾਗ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਦੀ ਦਿਲਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਦੇ ਪੋਸਟਰ ਮੈਰਿਟੋਰਿਅਸ ਚੁਣੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਥੀਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸਨ।
‘ਕੁਇਜ਼ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ’ ਵਿੱਚ 34 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਰਗਰਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। ਬੀ.ਐਸ.ਸੀ. ਭਾਗ ਤੀਜਾ ਦੀ ਦੀਸ਼ਾ ਜਿੰਦਲ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਵਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰਮਵਾਰ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਬੀ.ਐਸ.ਸੀ. ਭਾਗ ਦੂਜਾ ਦੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਤਿਕਾ ਨੇ ਤੀਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਭਾਗੀਦਾਰੀ ਲਈ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
